I am looking for a really good and in depth tutorial on railings.  I just cant seem to get mine to look correct at the bottoms or tops ever.  Maybe I need to just create my own railing type.

sometimes I create a workplane to make the entire railing, and then use sweeps in the workplane when you want to return the railing to the wall you can create a workplane at the correct height and create a sweep there.

To return railings at the walls for ADA, look at these familes here at RC.  These replace endposts.
