Everyone comes across a little bit of this at some point. I suggest you setup a really slick demonstration of how quickly and efficiently REVIT works.
Then if they absolutely resist, personally, I would start looking for and preparing for a different job. You can choose to inform them of your plan or you can do it silently.
The fact is, the company is in the business of delivering construction documentation and they will do it the same way for as long as they can. They would use a pencil and paper if they could get away with it.
You however are in the business of staying employed and increasing your pay scale.
To be 'emplyable' in the next few years you better have REVIT under your belt.
Just like the drafting board, 2D CAD is fading.
Here is your problem. When they do inevitably decide to switch to REVIT they may "already have a plan" to simply hire someone from a different company who DID invest the time to get educated. You will be skipped over and left out in the cold looking for work with NO REVIT skills and scrambling for a job with redundant skills. Not a good place to be.
I've seen this scenerio play out many times. It happened in great quantity when we moved from the drafting board to CAD. Suddenly the 50 year old senior draftsman with the excellent hand lettering is retiring 10 years early and the 30 year old with AutoCAD skills becomes priceless.
It actually makes finacial sense for them to hold out for as long as they possibly can, let SOMEONE ELSE do the training etc then just hire that person for a couple $ an hour more than you.
Just my 2 cents because if you don't take care of your own professional development no one will.
