i have a very large living space in the project im working on and im just looking for ideas to set the living space up in a functional layout with good design. any ideas on what to place in the large highlighted room in the attached image?

Try a billiard or ping-pong table.

try rearranging the spaces to obtain a more optimum fit for the required uses.

Yeah, you should try a ping- pong table. It will be a very good idea. I will recommend you to make ping pong table for kids and you can find some ideas over here on ping pong table. I have also bought a ping pong table with the help of that website for my kid. And they are so happy.
