When I demo a door, Revit places an in-fill wall in the opening. How can I demo the door while keeping the opening? I know I can change the structure of the in-fill wall. Has someone tried creating a wall that is invisible?

It looks like you can assign an invisible material to an infill wall. It seems to me that there should just be a way in Revit to turn off the in-fill option on a demo'd door.

i understand your problem - but have you tried simply inserting an opening, same size, same place in new phase? may not show up the way you want in all views i guess.

Thought of that. When I try it I get an error message "Opening completely removes its host"

I agree the way Revit handles demo/replace needs some help. The way to get around it is by editing the profile of the existing wall around the door (and make the opening any larger if the new opening is to be enlarged in the process) and assigning it to the existing phase. Insert a chunk of wall that is the size of the new and improved "opening" that was cut out in the edit profile and insert the door in this piece of wall. Demo them both and ... Now the existing wall should remain throughout, the door and any associated wall will show up in the demo phase, and the opening will appear in the completed building phase.
Not great, but it works.
