Wouldn't it be amazing if you could also make a pinned element impossible to delete?  So that in order to delete something vital like a grid line or a linked model, a user would have to take the deliberate extra step of unpinning that object?

It's too hard to get people to READ their warnings, and accidental deletions keep happening as we near our deadline.  Particularly new users getting folded into the detailing scramble.  An extra layer of security, requiring an active toggling of a button to enable deletion would bring me a lot of relief.

Anyone else agree?

It's not the 'enhanced pin' you are looking for, but there is a way to lock people out of certain elements that might help you at the moment. Create a new workset, and place the elements you want locked on that workset. Open the central file as a user that isn't going to be working on the file (either from a different computer, or just temporarily change the user name in Revit), then open the workset for editing. Save and close without relinquishing that workset, and nobody else will be able to touch it.

Oh... that's hilarious!  Good idea with the temporary user name.  I think I'll try this.

Still -- as a wishlist item it seems to make sense to me that anything which you would not want movable, you would also not want to be REmovable.  Seems like the logical place to put a check agaist accidents, since they do happen, and it's no fun to micromanage coworkers in the long term by denying the ability to make deliberate changes.

Blehh..

I really kind of don't like "fool proof" solutions.  There is no such thing.  I would rather have my users learn to be responsible.

Kind of like how I raised my children.  You can't protect them from everything so let them fall want they are short and they will learn.   Let you users screw up some, then castigate them for not paying attention to their filters.  Maybe they will then not make more serious mistakes.
