We have a plan that won't fit at 1/4" on 30x42 sheets. From as far as we can tell we're going to have to split the floor plan into 7 separate views. Multiply that by the fact that we have 3 phases and we end up with 7x3 floor plan views. I don't suppose there's a simpler way to do this. Are there any "BEST PRACTICES" anyone can recommend for developing this kind of project?

splitting the view is not the issue, you can do it as a duplicate of the floor plans(duplicate with detailing), or as a call out plan (make sure it's floor plan) the problem you might run into is annotation and detail lines.... as you know they will not carry across. one way to get over this is by grouping your detail lines and annotations and copy/paste to your views, you can than edit one group and the change will go across all... no easy way about it and the real danger is that you forget some stuff behind...
