OK so here is my dilemna, I have both Revit 2010 and 2011 installed on an older dell latitude laptop with not many upgrades except ram. Everytime I use either version of the program, after a little while all or some parts of the screen (only the part that shows the actual project) turn black, I usually get a window come up to tell me something can't be drawn (not sure if thats what it actually says), and even then the window rarely even comes up completely and revit will only function for a few more seconds before it stops responding completely. Now I know my computer isn't exactly built for this program, but is there anyway I can stop this from happening? Or atleast not happen every 10 minutes?

These are memory issues.  Do you have the 3 Gig switch set?  <<< MUST be set.

Also, if you have multiple images open with lots of entourage, shadows, CAD files or other intense graphical views, your memory will be consumed.  You need to close hidden windows occasionally, and completely close Revit at least once a day.

Gotta be honest I don't know exactly what you mean. Do you just mean I need 3gb of ram?
