How can I do this and make it the most practical?

I have HSS columns on a radius (@ 30 degrees), starts at the First Floor slab and goes to the clerestroy roof, with radiused girts at 3 different elevations in between and agirt at the top clerestory el.  The girst interrupts the columns, so as the column stops at the bottom of the girt and the sits on the girt and goes up to the next one.  I would really like to treat this as one column in the schedule.

How can I do this?

Strange!  Never heard of anything like that but I'm always willing to learn.

Perhaps you really want inset girts?  << Typical method.

Wow - I really need to check my spelling before posting.  All kinds of welding going on - it worked like a charm.

But anyway, I will look up that inset girt thing and see how it works.

I'm with WW, on this one, girts, go outside the columns generally, once in a while they will frame into, but this actually makes them larger. In anycase, you would never break the column in favor of a girt.
