revit 2011

I successfully linked in a 3d autocad file with loads of structure so that I can build walls around it and start my new project.  But when I go to sections or a floor plan the model is not being cut.

so in floor plan view I see what equates to a roof plan.  the view depth settings are correct.

in a section it looks like an elevation.

I just cant get the view to slice the 3d linked cad file properly.

any ideas?

This has been discussed many times in the forums if you had searched there.  The CAD file will not cut unless it is imported into a cuttable family.

I havent heard of a cuttable family, I'll look into it.

just wanted to update...  I inserted the acad model into a cutteble family (casework) and it cuts fine in sections now.

but it still does not look right in the plan view.  all the settings seem to be correct.  this one baffles me.

thoughts?
