I created interior elevs of the restrooms. I moved the "blue" elevation line inside the stalls cause I want to see the toilets and back wall but the view shows the front of the stalls even though I'm "behind" them. See attached images. Thanks

I have this same exact problem. Did you ever figure this one out?

Sorry but no I never did figure that one out.  I ended up "faking" it by drawing it all in.  Sorry again.

ACTUALLY, I JUST SPENT THE LAST FEW HOURS DOING A WORK-AROUND WHERE I MADE A NEW WALL-TYPE OF 1" PARTITION WITH A 1'-0" HIGH REVEAL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WALL, AND MADE IT 5'-10 TALL. THEN I MADE A DOOR WITH SIMILAR ATTRIBUTES. FOR THE AREAS WHERE PARTITIONS NEED SUPPORT POSTS I MADE A PROFILE FOR THAT AND USED A WALL SWEEP TOOL. I MIGHT GROUP THE TOILET, PARTITION AND DOOR WITHIN THE PROJECT SO THEY STAY TOGETHER. IT'S A LITTLE BETTER THAN DRAWING IT, I THINK. HTH

It took me awhile to figure this out but now I use it to my advantage.

When REVIT cuts elevations / sections/ whatever, it looks at what families it can see or which families it actually crosses (cuts) to include.    YOU MAY NOT SEE that the family is cut but it may be!   Play a little with a test family using invisible lines.  If any of the family, including invisible lines, is cut, the family is included.  Most toilet partition families I've seen have an invisible witness line used to insert the family.  BIG MISTAKE!

BTW - watch out where the origin of the family is in realtion to where it's actually drawn.  The origin is what determines where an item is ... think about schedules....

I'm having problems with the same thing.  I understand why a family is or is not included in the section views; what I want to do is cut a section of the family though.  It seems like if the section is cut through the family, it just reads that it should include the family and just plops it in the view; it doesn't actualy cut a section through the family.  Do you have any suggestions for this?

The following families are not cuttable and are always shown in projection in views:

  • Balusters
  • Detail Items
  • Electrical Equipment
  • Electrical Fixtures
  • Entourage
  • Furniture
  • Furniture Systems
  • Lighting Fixtures
  • Mechanical Equipment
  • Parking
  • Planting
  • Plumbing Fixtures
  • Specialty Equipment

Usually when I run into this issue I take a look at the components visibility and turn off what I don't need to see.

I'll just use the stall as an example. What I did with the stall is turn off the stall door visibility  when it is in elevation / section. You can do this from the options bar when you select a component.

If I need to see some sort of representation in a view that I turned off the object, I will use sybolic lines to draw it out.

One solution is to change the family category from "Specialty Equipment" to "Generic Model".   This solved the problem entirely!
