OK - so if figured out how to customize the section mark (somewhat).

All though that called for a big WOO! HOO! and a little jig around my chair :-).

But I would really like it to have the squiggly thing that will pop it off to the side like the grid line and the levels line has.  I would also like to keep the squiggly thing that puts a gap in the secttion line.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Also where is that line in the section mark located and what is it called?  (The line that attaches the head and the tail together.)

That is pop the text off to the side.

Also - how do I add a variable text that will only show up if I want it to?  For instance, Typ or Sim?

Wondering how much time you have spent just building models. Many I have seen in here, get bogged down trying to make Revit look like there CAD drawings. This is of course interesting, but really futile. Much more important to learn the rest of the program as it is very powerful, and leave that kinda nit stuff for much later. Just a thought.

Yes - I know what you are talking about.  But the section marks that come out of the box are just way too big.  Actually I have not spent that much time on it yet, maybe an hour.  That is why I come on here to ask questions to speed up the time I spend.  Also I figure the more I know about how revit works and understand where, at least some of the items are coming from and how they are created, then I figure that could help me.

But I have figured for the text thing all I need is to add a parameter.

and as far as time spent modleing - not much, I am learning while we have a slow time at my work.  so I am trying to learn as much as possible in the time I have.  I have started with a building from scratch and I am putting in everyday scenarios.

But since you did comment ,I did have a question in the structural forum that no one has answered yet,  It is about how to move a grid line and to get my beam, foundation elements, joists and everything to move with it, maybe you could look at that and help me there.   Please.....

can you post a picture, of your foundation question. generally, foundations are attached to walls, or slab edge, or columns. If you lock them to the grid they should move with it.

This was my question...

---How to change a grid dimenstion and have the foundations, beams and joist move with it.

I am just playing around with revit and trying to take in typical scenarios of everyday drafting.

Everyone knows how many times grid lines move.

Well, I have my gridlines, foundation slab, foundation walls, concrete colums, steel columns, beams and josits all laid out.  The exterior face of wall is 1' off of the grid line.  Now I want to move my grid ine 4'.

What is the easiest way to do this and have everything move/stretch along with it?  I tried moving the grid line but the foundation items did not move.  I thought once you put in dimesnions that all you had to do was change the dimension and everything would move with it (silly me),  I can not change the dimension at all, except to just override it.

(Remember I am very knew to Revit)  ---

The foundation was placed by using the on grid line command.
