Has anyone tried a software program called Lumion? I did a little reading, watched some tutorials on youtube and downloaded the trial.  I have no problem inserting the Revit model into the program but when I try to add materials it selects everything as one object.  For example If I add a material to the walls it applies to the windows, roof and etc....Anyone with some insight on this program?

Yes, I was trying to use .fbx but I think TYPHOON answered the question exactelly. Thank you!  I have been a firm believer in keeping it all 100% Revit (even renderings) but I see stuff from other software and its leaps and bounds ahead.  I have recently realized that I am more interested in putting together that jaw dropping rendering and revit is not going to do that. I feel like by continuing in Revit I am falling behind.

I think revit does a decent job, add a little life with photoshop and things really pop. Lumion is pretty cool for videos, reminds me alot of the sandbox editor in Crytek that came with Crysis.

I dont see much difference between the .dae file format and the .max once imported in Lumion except my .max file is much smaller. The material editor is not very user friendly but I also have not used it much. maybe I am missing something

Remember... REVIT isn't a "Rendering Software"... it's a "BIM Software".

If you feel you are "Falling behind" just use another render software like Lumion or Max or Cinema4D or whatever you need...

Cheers...

I understand that, when I first started using Revit it was b/c the firm I work for was considering converting to Revit from cad for the BIM purposes, but that never happened.  So I have only been using Revit for the rendering.  I love Revit, just can't get the company to make the change.
