I've been working to create a star with a glass railing where I'm using a baluster template. Among other issues, I've been having a strange thing happen as I've been making adjustments and wanted to see if anyone had encountered it and found a solution. The baluster/Glass panel I'm using is supposed to have 1" gap top and bottom per template file.

Just kidding. This site is not allowing me to attach images for some reason. What is happening is that the bottom of the glass panel baluster is changing arbitrarily as I make adjustments. Some of them are appearing correctly and others are different. There's no other offsets applied to baluster placement. Does that make sense?

Image must be small enough to attach.  Use a small gif ...I use Screenhunter free to screen capture small image files.  Also, you can use IE of firefox / mozilla 5.0 or earlier.  Chrome and later firefox do not work here.

In your baluster family, are the base constraints for the modeling locked to a reference plane?  If uploading files fails, you can use an image hosting site like Imgur or Photobucket in a pinch.

I'm trying the gif through IE. And yes the extrusion is locked to the reference plane in the family.

Too many locks.  You want to lock the sketch lines of the railing panel to the reference planes, not the other way around.

edit:  attached... no... attachments are acting funny today on revitcity.

So I'm still having the same problem as well as another new one that I believe I've seen in other posts. The bottom of the baluster is offsetting from the base incorrectly and the panels are extending past where they should stop. I suppose the latter is solved by creating a seperate panel family that is exactly the dimension of the odd bits. Not sure what else to do other than simply abandoning revit railings and create them using curtain walls and sweeps.
