I have looked high and low for a solution to this one. Upgradinfg from 2009 to 2012

the revit model was saved in a different version of Revit. To be able to work with the central model please log into revit with a different user accound that has no elements checked out and resave.

Anyone else"?

  1. Open the central model in the new release.
TipOpen the central model with the Audit option to identify and fix any possible corrupt elements. This process is more time consuming, but will prevent potential problems. See Opening a Revit Project File.
  2. Click Save As (Project).
  3. In the Save As dialog, click Options, and in the File Save Options dialog, select Make this a Central Model after save.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Navigate to the directory with the upgraded central model and name it accordingly.
  6. Click Save.
NoteBackups of the central model will restart, after it has been upgraded in this manner.
  7. Instruct all team members to open the central model and create a local copy of it using Save AsProject. Alternatively, use the Create New Local option in the Open dialog.

I have done all of this but before the centrral file opens I get the above error message

seems to be saying you should go to -> Options --> General

And change you username.   Have you tried this yet?

tmassey, I have had the same error when trying to upgrade from 2012 to 2013.

itsmyalterego, I have tried changing username under Options when opening the file to upgrade. This did not seem to work.

Did you ever find a solution??

Just found a solution...

Upgrade from your local file and it should work (make sure your local file is up-to-date though). For some reason, this error message occurs when upgrading from the central file.
