Hi,

Does anyone know why curved grid lines do not display normal grid line linetype (centreline) - instead they only display as solid line?  Is this standard?

I have both straight and curved grid lines in my model so two different linetypes looks terrible graphically.

Object style override makes the grid bubble dashed as well as the grid line - so this isn't a viable workaround.

Thanks in advance.

Amy

You have done something wrong, mine works fine - see attached.

Stange.  It still doesn't work.  I've tested changing every linetype, opened a new project and tried again, used different arc tool - still a solid line.

Go to the manage tab.  Additional Settings drop-down.

Check Line Types.  Check wline line pattern 'Grid Line' is set to.  It should simply say 'Grid Line' or similar.

Now go back to Additional settings, and got Line Patterns.  make sure that Grid Line is set to a Dot-Dash.

Make sure that you don't have an override set for VG--Model Categories--Lines--Grid Line, particularly if you're using view templates, or if you have a project template.

Edit:  I guess I have reading comprehension problems -- I see your uncurved grids are fine.   Just the curved one huh... Have you tried drawing a curved line in that line style, say, as a detail line and not an actual grid?

Thanks for the suggestion - grid line type properties only have an option to select a direct 'line pattern' - not a named 'line type'.  So this is all correct in the model at the moment.  It's set to a centreline pattern.

The problem is that straight grid lines display the correct grid pattern, but arc/curved grid lines do not, per the screenshot in my initial post.

I might have been editing my post while you replied -- did you check to see if a detail line in this line type is similarly screwed up?

Just checked detail and model lines - both are fine as arcs

Also should also note I'm in 2011 and using a company Revit template.  I've just tried the out of the box template and it still doesn't work..

Solved.

'End segment grid line' in the grid line type properties has to be set to the same line type as 'centre segment line type' for a curved grid line to work.
