The subject of creating Revit drawings that resemble AutoCAD drawings was answered by importing the AutoCAD into a drafting view and then redrawing in revit the linework with Revit linetypes. This seems tedious and unnecessary.

If you have over 100 drating views in a revit project with AutoCAd detailing to go into each view in VG and assign linetype thickness to each layer is exhausting.

Instead of redrawing Revit lines over AutoCAD details can you not Import AutoCAD sections/details into a revit drafting view. Partial explode- select import line weights dwg/dxf and load a lineweight.txt file that represents the AutoCAD ctb file.

We did this and all of our linework showed different thicknesses and color in Revit as per our CAD dwgs.

It's suggested that you use a messy alternate project to do this in.  You explode, convert to one standard revit line type, and then import into revit.  You don't want all of Autocad's crazy linetypes and styles, and hatches.  It'll drown you.

Better to boil everything down.

Typically, we do not use autocad details anymore.  drafting views are okay -- but drafting over the top of callouts can have real benefits--using the actual model as a reference beneath.
