Hi All:

I've purchased Revit 2010 from an AutoCAD sales outlet that folded here in Canada. Aside from the hassle of transfering the software into my name, I've also been stumped trying to find a dvd series for my training needs. Can someone tell me which video series is best? And where I can find a 2010 version? I'm even open to used dvds.

"Revit 2010 from an AutoCAD sales outlet that folded here in Canada"

only autodesk authorized resellers can sell you a license for revit- (unless you buy an arch firm and acquire their licenses).. and they can only sell the current version..

as for videos- there are thousands of free videos on the internet.. if you want to pay for revit training videos- CADCLIPS. COM is the original..

It was a authorized dealer, but it went bankrupt. The hastle was with what the reciever did. My lawyer  & AutoCAD are dealing with it. I leave it in their hands.

I've been all over youtube but missed cadclips. I'll give CADclips a look at tomorrow. Thanks.

Richard- if you are serious about revit you don't want version 2010- 2011 with update 2 is the best version of revit ever created.. i don't know what is going on with 2012 because i won't do a full evaluation on it until update 2 becomes available.. the year 2012 is still several months away and i don't have time to be a "beta" tester for any new software program..

I've heard that 2011 was better Vector 4. But like all small operations, I have limited funds and the offer for a new 2010 was too good to pass up. If we like Revit, we will update to the latest version next fall.  I actually consider this particular version a "working" trial only, which is why I went with the single seat instead of the three I could use. I will use this version this year and if the product is as good as we feel it is, we will purchase the 3 new seats in the fall of 2012.

honestly- unless you have your own 2010 license from a couple of years ago- there is no such thing as an "offer for a new 2010"- it doesn't work that way.. if you have a trial version of 2010 that's fine but you can just as well download a trial of 2011 or 2012.. the ONLY thing about a trial is that you can't use it commercially without violating the EULA..

sadly, with the inability to backsave, If you're planning on using revit in any sort of collaborative way, you'll need to stay current with a subscription.

If you're an independent architects and mostly do small remodels and homes, etc, then a standalone version might last you a couple years.  I found 2010 to be a rocky year -- 2011 was nice, and 2012 was a pretty smooth transition, and added some nice features as well.

i tend to expect 2012 to be a good version simply because it is closely related to the rock-solid and refined new autodesk version of revit (2011). 2010 was the completed autodesk plan for revit- but it was just the first release of a very complex rebuilding of the whole revit foundation..
