ive tried various views but nothing seems to let me pick the side of the "in place" cabinet im making, so that I can set the work plane to that side face. I want to get my cornice sweep to wrap it. The cabinet itself is a solid extrusion created in an interior elevation view. it seems then like I cannot pick the side of the extrusion as a work plane. so i cant draw the sweep path along the side of the extrusion.

take a look at the picture. the arrow is pointing to the sweep. I want to wrap it like the red line shows.

Thanks in Advance.

GET RID OF THOSE PIECES AND DO IT AS ONE IN-PLACE SWEEP AND PICK 3d EDGES FOR THE PATH.  SORRY FOR CAPS

I don't use workplanes anymore.  except in the most rare circumstances.  When I was starting out I thought that they were necessary -- i thought that all elements had to be plane-based.  Definitely just use a Pick 3D edge for the path of the sweep, or, just draw the path in plan--it should wrap that corner just fine.  I spend about 50% of my time working in a 3D view with a section box turned on.  that would allow you unrestricted access to modeling in here... And if you flip the view top-down, it's good for sketching paths if you don't want to host the sweep on the 3D edge.

Section boxes allow you to work in interior spaces like nothing else.

Thanks for the tips. Didnt even think of picking the 3d Edges.

Also, I just figured out the 3d box thing earlier today working on this! great Idea!
