I am trying to create a finish schedule but when I do, there seem to be duplicate rooms (and not just a couple, but many instances - around 30).  I tried to create this weeks ago, and ran into the same issue.  When I attempted to delete the duplicates rooms, half of my model disappeared!  Luckily, I was able to reopen an autosave but am hesitant to make any moves through the schedule now, with the fear of losing information again.  Any way to hide the duplicates in the schedule or to not allow certain geometries to be accounted for in the schedule (I am assuming Revit is accounting for windows, doors, etc.).  Otherwise, I will just add my own parameters and then manually fill in the blanks I guess?  Thank you in advance!

It sounds like you did a lot of copy/pasting without paying attention to your selection set.  I suggest you clean up your model of the duplicates.

Have you ever used the review warnings?  As part of your model maintenance, you should do this first now and do this periodically on all your models.  It will show you duplicate elements in the same place.  So you can check box the duplicates and delete those.

The above is the preferred process but you can also open the schedule and the plan(s) in a tiled viewports.  Then you can move to a room in the schedule, right click and pick show.  Then you will see where this room really is.

Thank you WWHub.  I do not believe I was doing any irresponsible copy/paste activity, but after reviewing the warnings and deleting them (after review), I tried tiling the schedule and plan and found than when I select an element in the schedule, it is selecting items such as doors, casework, etc. in plan.  I am assuming that I am using the wrong parameters in the schedule, and will try to find alternatives.  I did "Select available fields from: Rooms" and began adding Room:Name, Room:Number, etc.  Not sure how the other families/geometries can be accounted for based on the fields I selected.

Also, tried donating through paypal but it would not let me update any billing address info to supply a new card.  I'd like to donate as you all have been a huge help, so if there is an alternative to paypal, let me know.

Thanks!

Alright, I figured it out.  When I initially began making the schedule, I selected "multi-category" as the type of schedule, rather than "rooms".  Despite this, I was still able to select subsequent fields titled "Room: Wall", "Room: Ceiling", etc. to add later.  Obviously, that was incorrect.  Just wanted to let others know in case anyone else makes the same mistake.

What an unbelievable ridiculous flaw in the lazy Revit programming.  Still exists in Revit 2016.  Each panel within the same curtain wall are associated to different rooms in my model.  This isn't an issue of "careless copy and pasting."

I should also add that I created a new schedule too with only the Rooms category and only the Room Number field.  Same issue.

Torschy,  Obviously we can't help you because you don't offer much information about what you are doing.   My response to the initial poster was correct for what was asked.  The problem however was a process issue.  The initial poster wasn't doing what he said he was and that really widened the possible problems.

Your issues are probably the same, a faulty process.  If you give us more information about what you are doing, we may be able to help.   Obviously, you are NOT doing a room schedule since you are talking about curtain walls.

This is an older thread- but wanted to reply with what I've found as well.  If you start your schedule with multi-catergory selected as your category, it will pull every modeled element in that room and schedule it.  There's no obvious way to see why you have multiple rooms with the same name being listed in your room schedule, until you add the 'family' field at which point you'll see that it's scheduling doors, windows, curtain walls, etc.  I just had to reverse engineer the schedule a co-worker created and found this issue.  Once I re-created with JUST rooms as my category, it was populating just the room parameters.  Presto! Hope that helps.
