Okay as my subject title suggests Revit is saying no to me when i want to place my project on real world coordinates, i've never come across this error before as i did I project last week that had values more than 9144000mm and there were no issues, why is this happening now (I'm using Revit Architecture 2012) my coordinates are: E/W 517883632mm and N/S 169456480mm

somebody please help, i need to get this project on real cooordinates ASAP Winking

thanks all

that took a lot of counting... you want to move something 9 kilometers??  that's within the abilities of revit 2012... but, I don't quite understand why you would do this!  Are you working on a massive site plan, with linked files actually 9 km apart in the same project?

something doesn't seem right here, is this the screen your trying to enter coordinates? or are you trying to move the whole project by an huge amount (more than 30,000 feet for all you americans) compared to the hidden base point? Maybe you went to 'Specify coorindates at point' instead, try entering the correct location/address in the box shown first and then you can try moving your base point around after that.

Okay I've realised how i can get revit to recognise points passed the restricted limit, Instead of clicking on the project base point and giving it the coordinates in there, I can use the coordinate thingy to specify the given coordinates of part of the model, this will move the project base point past the limits. However I'm thinking I'm doing this wrong somehow as the only way I can make the coordinates correct is by having the survey point at 0,0 which means whenever i zoom extents with survey point in view I end up miles away from the project.

Can somebody tell me the correct procedure (step by step) preferably of setting up a project so that it has real coordinates as provided by my surveying team. I have the coordinates in a dwg. file of the existing building (the coordinates i gave before were of a point based in that drawing) Somehow what I have seems correct but I feel it can't be the right way of doing it.

Okay dokey, I've now had another go heres what i did:

1. unclipped both project base point and survey point.

2. went to Manage - Coordinates - Specify coordinates at point

3. selected a point that i knew i could find in the survey drawing. copy and pasted the coordinates of that point into the correct N/S/E/W of that point including the elevation of it. but multiplied the coordinates by 1000 (the surveying company work in meters i wat it in mm)

4. Bam everything seems fine now and ZX works great too lol

Is this the correct procedure????
