What do I have to do to enable disassociate the work plane on an in-place model, modeled text, etc?  99% of the time, that button is grayed out.  If I attempt to rotate the plane in which it was created, I end up deleting the elements altogether so there seems to be no workaround available.

I tried both with no success.  The disassociate button is still grayed out as always and I'm looking desparately for the magic graphic blue box with the lock which does not appear either no matter how close I zoom in.  What am I doing wrong?

1.  I created a reference plane and named it "SIGN"

2.  I went to an elevation view and modeled signage text on my work plane.

3.  I quickly learn that my reference plane cannot be rotated without deleting my modeled signage text

4.  I click the signage text element/modify tab/work plane/edit work plane/Disassociate is grayed out.

5.  I hunt for the magic blue button to no avail.

Nevermind, I just figured out how to work the swf file that you sent using Adobe Flash.  The video is very helpful.  I guess to make a long story short, some elements like model text cannot be completely disassociated, because they are required to be hosted objects.  Therefore, I need to rehost instead.
