Hi,

I was trying to create a polygonal callout using detail lines, I made a line type that was the same style/weight as the callout object style. However they were not the same weight at scale (1"=40') I changed to 1/8"=1' and viola they matched. This has led me to believe that Detail Lines follow the Line Weights set out in "Model Line Weights" Instead of Annotation Line weights.

Is there any way to make a Detail Lines (Found under ANNOTATIONS) to follow Annotation line weights? and how come this is not default behavior?

Your call-out boundry is an annotation element and is set in the Object Styles - see attached:

I realize that, But take a look at these pics

The Magenta line is a detail line, weight 7

The Red line is a Callout Object, also weight 7

They are different because there are two type of line weights, Model line weights, and annotative line weights, What I dont understand is why a DETAIL line is a model line weight.

Those lines were on a site plan, 1"=40', for reference. and the pic with object styles up the black line is set to weight 10

Annotation line weights do not scale with the view so my call out bubble - pen weight 7 - will always be .035" in every view but a model line assigned to the same initial line weight will only be .009" in the 1"=40' scale where it would be .035" at 1" = 1'..

Look at your line weight settings and note that there could be a difference between pen 7 model and pen 7 annotation.

I know there are differences between model and annotation line weights, thats the problem. Detail Lines (which I would have thought to be annotative) are using the MODEL line weights... I just want to know why / how to make a line that uses annotative line weights.
