Hi guys

Please can somebody help me to put a dormer roof window in. I have tries everything but cam just not do it. I've managed to work out most of the things in my model so far with the help of people in this forum but I'm totally stuck on this one.

Can somebody please talk me through this and show me how to do it in the simplest terms. I was hoping that you could just drop a window in like you do in a wall or something but I don't see any option to do this or I don't see a dormer window that I want in any of the libraries.

Attached, please see a picture of the dormer window that I want in my model.

Thank you in advance for any help on this one.

Kirk

Edit.. Tried adding photo but it is not letting me.

Please find a link to the photo here: http://www.kirksmiths.com/dormerinroof.JPG

Cheers

As your question is not totally clear. I will try to explain how I built the one attached.

1. Built the lower roof with roof by footprint.

2. Then cut out the area where the dormer is to be.

3. Then build the dormer walls.

4. Then build the flatter dormer roof by foot print.

5. Adjusted the intersection of the upper contact of the flattened dormer roof with that of the lower normal roof.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that! I ended up figuring it out by just building the dormer walls first where I wanted them, and then adding a roof to the dormer walls before joining it to the main roof. I then used the dormer opening tool to cut the roof out.

Seems to have worked anyway.
