I am working on an old stone house with angled window openings(see pdf attachment). The wall is 21" thick. 20" stone w/ 1" metal mesh lath and plaster. I drew this in cad and am trying to get the same results in revit. The opening is only angled in plan so the cut is parallel in elevation.
How can I create the angled opening? Is is something that can be solved with the window unit or is there a command that will trim the corners in revit?
Thanks

Edit the window family, try using a rectanglular void to cut the wall where the window is, then cut the remaining wall with a void blend.

I tried but was unsuccessful. I trued with a generic double hund also with the marvin clad ultimate double hung but couldn't get the void to work. I can create a void but it doesnt cut the wall. I removed the opening, set the exterior face as the reference plane and then made the wall 20" thick and created a voiv and tried to create a blended void but it wasnt cutting the opening. On the Marvin window I noticed that it was cutting the interior wood finish from the model. I will go get my reference books and see if there is something I am missing.

this void you've created that won't cut the wall... are you creating it in the family editor or directly in the building model? It should work either way, just curious. If the void isn't cutting the wall, just click Modify->Cut->click on the void->click on the wall

I would do this in the family editor but you have to do it with a void. The problem is that a typical window already has an opening cut in it and you can't have both. So first, delete the opening cut. For your own ease, make the host wall in the family the same thickness as your project. Now add the void extrusion in the family and set it to cut the host.
BTW - you can have more than one void cut in a family - just not two opening cuts or an opening cut and a void cut.

" just click Modify->Cut->click on the void->click on the wal"
Thanks, that did it. It seem simple now, but after playing with it and not having success your vision gets blurred.
NOw let me load teh family into the model.

Hi,
I appreciate this is an old thread but I am having problems when following the steps above - when I create the void geometry in the window family and then cut the wall with it, it makes the window dissapear also. Any ideas?
I'm using 2013.
Thanks

Delete that void an create a new one off to the side that only cuts the wall. After doing that, edit the void and align/lock the skech as needed. Now it will no longer cut other elements.

That worked a treat! thanks for the quick reply too.
Just one thing, the window width & new void opening are locked at the width they are sketched in, in the family model - I cannot change the width in the main model now. I can work around this easily but it would be nice to know how to make it work again.
Thanks again, I am new to Revit so your help is very, very useful.

You should always use reference planes in a family to create parametric elements. They create your geometry referenced to/from those planes.
