Hi there

I'm relatively new to revit and have to decided as im sure lots of people have done, to model their own dwelling. however I have come across something that has me stumped, below is a picture of a sort of inverse buttress that provides support for the soffit and fascia. I have no idea on how to model it, initially i thought i would make the gable end the work plane and mass it?

Any help would be gratefully received!

add a portion of wall and then edit it to the shape you want.

Very good choice, to model you own home, because you run into problems like these that force you to learn.  As Mbstever said, you can "edit profile" of a wall, and it will give you purple sketch lines, (same as when drawing floors, roofs, etc) than you can use to make openings, or add wingdings like this to an existing wall.

Thank you for the advice guys. Will give it a go later. I was thinking of a name for the "inverse buttresses" and I think "wingdings" are much better!

Hi guys i have managed to do that, but is there anyway of the edited portion only going part way through the wall? As on a cavity wall it is only the exterior brick course that i want to be the wingdings.

Hope this makes sense?

add a separate wall for just the wingdings, or add your brick veneer as a separate entity from the main wall, or make an in place model of the brick only wingding
