I am in the process of doing a model at work, the is being clad to first floor level, there is a main entrance into the building and the client wants a glass canopy over it.  I created the glass canopy by using the roof by extrusion tool and changed the material to glass, now the client wants to illuminate the canopy with some kind of tape that will go inbetween the canopy and the cladding, he wants me to show this in the model but i am stuck to how i could do it. Pictures are attached to show the detail i have described.

I have tried the following already:

- Edit profile of wall to create a hole the same shape of the canopy and place a studio light behind the wall.

-Paint the sides of the glass with material "Default Light Source"

Can anybody help?

Thanks

If you mean this glass will be edge lit, you might be able to get the correct rendering affect by giving this glass a glow property.  No need to use an actual light source.

You can find it under the materials appearance properties... see attached image
