i have downloaded a compnent wine barrel from this site itself......when rendered the material is not showing,i edited the family n assigned the material .....but it just come out plain white...plzz its urgent..help

You must reassign a material ... this family was done in 2008 (when revit uses nxt renderer) . Check under manage/materials/ thematerials called "Wine Barrel - Wood" and "Wine Barrel - Bands" . Go to "render appearance"  tab and hit "replace" button. Select any wood material you need.

Check your help (F1 on revit), this forum and google about materials and revit 2011.

i did that....i am working in 2009  and i opened edit family and replaced the material....still not wotking ...

There are lots of threads about this same issue in Forums but edit the family, go to materials and check what material (name) you have assigned to that family then remember: " PROJECT RULES ", when you load that family into project, go to materials and check if the material is correct like you want.
