I saw a presentation on how to put brick coursing into a wall family using sweeps so that the grout lines and courses show in sections.  I can’t remember where I saw it.  Anyone know how to do this?  I know how to do it using repeating detail components but would like it to show in all sections.

I don't know how you can do this with a system wall family.

I personally think embeded detail elements is a bad practice.  You don't want them at all for coarse views and I want to control the detail elements in detail views.

I see that you posted this same question on AUGI and Harvalias gave you the answer about doing this in a sweep.  Please come back after you do this and let us know how well it works for you.

I have used a similar technic with wood shear walls with good success.  As a structural engineer I do not use building sections.  I have plans and detail sections at 3/4"=1'-0" and greater.

My shear wall families have the bottom plate as a profile.  The 2x plate is shown on coarse and medium detail and the anchor bolt and edge nails are added to fine detail.  The double top plate is done the same way with the edge nail and an H2.5a hurricane tie added to the fine detail.  That way I can control what elements are shown in the details by changing from medium to fine.  (footing details and roof details are in fine and mid-floor details are in medium)

What I can't figure out is how to do a repeating profile.  I do a lot a ICF design and I want to build my wall families so that they will put in the form courses and web ties and also a detail component for vert and horiz rebar.  This information is needed in every detail section I draw and would save a bunch of time in the detailing.

My models are usually under a 100 Mb and I do not ever render so the speed is not an issue.
