I want to be able to apply a tag to a beam system, indicating member size and spacing. I've loaded a tag from the Revit Library, but it doesn't seem to recognise a beam system as tagable. Beam System visibility is turned on, and as usual, is only visible when pre-selected. I would greatly appreciate some advice in this regard,
Thanks,
Martin

I have the same problem. Could it be a bug? I get this message when attempting to create an instance: "Can't create this kind of element in this view in the current mode."

I can tag the beam system... Well the individual elements of the beam system. I don't beleive you can tag the beam system itself.

This is the generic "structural beam system tag" that installs with Revit.

i realize that this is an old post (hopefully this will work to my advantage in this case), but i'm running into the exact same issue as McGraw. i looked through the help file and have discovered that certain buttons and options that should be there (according to help), are not. i simply typed "tag beam system" as my query and in the list of responses, found "taging beam systems" (a startlingly precise result i must say). the instructions go on to explain how to load the family, and then it goes a bit wonky - on the drafting menu, or the drafting tab of the design bar it says, i should find a button - "beam system tag"; i see no such thing, not greyed out, no fly-out... nothing. please, can someone tell me what i'm missing? i usually have structural plans drawn by an engineer, so this is not something that i've yet had to do and i'm sure it must be something rediculously simple. thank you in advance, -Ryan

The Beam System Tag is only available in Revit Structure. The Drafting tab in 2009 Revit Structure looks like: Modify Dimension Spot Dimension Text Grid Level Matchline Reference Plane Scope Box Keynote Tag Tag All Not Tagged Beam Annotations View Reference Span Direction Area Reinforcement Symbol Path Reinforcement Symbol Beam System Tag Symbol Legend Component -------------------------------------- Detail Lines Detail Group Detail Component Masking Region Repeating Detail Filled Region Revision Cloud

well that's just depressing. so much for doing nice, clean, easily reviseable framing plans in RAC. thanks for the info though.
