I have a problem with shadows. When I turn them on in plan views, the shadows are cast from the cut plane of the view. What I'm trying to do is show the client how much shadow there will be in a room at different times of the days i.e. sun studies. Is there any way to have your cut plane at 1200mm above finished floor level but have the shadows cast at full height/length?

in properties of the view you can set the cut plane to whatever you need, seek on google, help menu and on this forum about cut plane.

Yes I know, but what I'm asking is if I can have the cut plane at one height and the cast shadows coming from the actual height including the shadows that would be cast by the ceilings & roofs above?

i think there is  plugin that allows you to do that (like a shadow mapped on the ground)... i doubt it can be done with revit "out of the box" tools, when i remember the name i post
