I want to place a component in 2011. where do you choose what component you want?

click the component button, then what, where is the list of components to choose from.???

Warchitect,

 

If the family is already loaded in your project, it should show in the pulldown at the top of your properties box (if you have that open).  You can also find a component in your browser and right click on the appropriate type and pick create instance.

Thanks for that last post. seems weird that the menu now is only in the prop window. no little drop down....all the buttons and crap are really big, take up alot of area of the screen now..

 

but what about this: I try to load a tree (its a 2d plan thing only) and I get this error message (see screen shot)

That error message is because you are not in the correct view to use the item.

so how do I find out what it is?

its a tree...2d plan thing....so its an anootation then? what? why is that stopping me from loading items into my project?

previous versions lets you load whatever whenever...

For plants, you should be able to load the families from the library by going to component or site component (under massing and site tab), then choose load families.

The reason you can't load/insert the family (i.e. your screen) is you are on RCP view.

go to any of the floor plan or site plan and try again.
