Hello,
I am trying to transfer an elevation view to a new project (it's a simple w/c elevation). I tried to make a view template, transfer it utilizing transfer project standards. It does not work. I tried checking the 'filters' and the 'view template' and importing it that way...again it DOES not work.
I really am just trying to find a way where I can just import a revit 3D view, without making it a 2D view. Is this possible? Is there any other way anyone would reccomend?

Model elements are all 3D. Views are just views of the model. If you want to transfer the model from one project to another, then create a view, you can do that. Otherwise, if you want a 2D view that you can transfer, then you will have to create a 2D view by exporting to CAD (or freeze view).

I want only the elevation view, not the whole model in the new project. Is that possible at all?

I just told you how in my post.... You have to create a 2D drafting view!

Sorry if I read it wrong. I was asking if there was any way possible to keep it 3D. You had said in your first post that if I wanted it 2D, then I would have to transfer it from CAD.
Thanks.

OK - I'll explain - As I said " Model elements are all 3D. Views are just views of the model. " This means that if you want a view of the model, you have to have the model to look at. Understand?
Then I said "If you want to transfer the model from one project to another, then create a view, you can do that. " This means if you want the 3D model in your project, which you would have to do if ^^^ the above is true, then you have to transfer it into your project. You can link the model in and create a view, you can link the model then bind it (which actually inserts it complete) or you can copy paste from a 3D view - one project to the other in the same revit session.
Is that any clearer?

You can use the current proyect , save elevations, plans templates, and then save as a template proyect (rte format)... if thats what you need.
You can "link" an existing model of context, if thats what you need. Seek on help and in the forum for that, might help.
