I am new to Revit.  I am working with a family friend and am having to learn Revit from the ground up.  I have no book, so I am relying on youtube and the help menu.  I will probably be using this for many questions.  I have a small structure built and I am trying to mess around with the walkthroughs.  In my 3D model, my walls have color to the bricks and interior walls.  When I go to do the walkthrough, all I see are black and white walls with the utline of the briacks.  How do I get the walls to be colored in the walkthrough?

From another post..the best way to learn is to read this forum. Search before you ask your question and you will most likely find the answer

To apply a paint color to a wall.
1. Open the materials dialog box and create a new material by duplicating another similar material.
2. Click the Rendered Appearance tab
3. Click the 'replace' button.
4. Select the paint color you want
5. On the graphics tab you can check the 'Use Rendered Appearance for Shading' or just pick a color from the big color rectangle button.
6. Close the materials dialog box
7. Now, edit the properties of the wall type
8. Click the skinny 'edit' button for the wall 'structure'.
9. Select the 'material' of the layer on the side of the wall you want painted
10. Pick your newly created material with paint
11. Ok, ok, ok, and that's pretty much it.
Once you create the material (step 5) you can also just use the REVIT 'Paint' tool to simply paint the face of the wall, or roof, or floor etc. with any material.
If you don't care about 'rendered appearance' and just want a 'shaded' paint you can pick a color off the Graphics tab of the Materials dialog box
Hope this helps.

The problem is not so complex -- in your walkthrough, your graphics are set to "hidden line" and your 3d view is set to "shading with edges."

HL is the hotkey for hidden line, SD is the hotkey for Shading with edges, WF is the hotkey for wireframe.   So, when your walkthrough views is open, type SD, and you should see what you want.

If you forget the hotkeys, you can also change the view type at the bottom of your screen.  There's a little isometric brick down by the lightbulbs and the sunglasses.  hover your mouse over the icons to see their purpose.

knowing what to search for is really the issue!  And since you are new here, I'll say it first!  Read the HELP files!  There, someone will hit you with that somewhere!  If you want a view to look like another view, simplest and fastest approach is to find the view that looks how you want it to in your browser, then right click on it in the browser and select create view template from view.  Once done, go to view which doesn't look like you want it to, and apply the newly created view template.  If your view template doesn't show (tweak with the filter, because by default it only shows templates made from similar view types, thus you won't get the choice for a view template made by a section view, when you have a plan view open), then you need to "show all".

I recommend getting a view to look how you want it, make a "working" view template from it, and then apply this to any view as you need to in order to get everything how you work best.
