I am designing an extension on a property which will include knocking through an existing external wall into the new extension. I would like my existing phase to show the wall as it is, and in my new phase (phase 1) show the hole in the wall which will be knocked through. My problem is that when I create a hole in the wall in my phase 1 it shows up in existing phase.
Is the only option to create a seperate wall the size of the hole in existing phase and demolish it in phase 1?
Hope I've explained this ok.
Dave

That is one way. Another is to use design options to show it the way you want. Design options can be controlled by VG settings so in one view with a DO called existing, you show the wall in that DO, then in another view, you have a wall in the same place but modified as you need.
You can read about Design Options in your HELP.

Thats great thanks. i've actually created a few DO's I was just concerned that once I've accepted my primary the problem will persist.
I'll give it a go though, Cheers.

You don't have to ever accept a design option....
We use design options on prototype drawings to show different options. We have maybe 15 different options in one of our hotel prototypes and none of those will ever be "accepted".

Try creating a door family which is nothing but a wall opening. Place this while in the newer phase into the existing wall, and Revit will take care of the rest for you, should get you results that you desire.
