Back to using revit after 4 years

Revit version 2012

Have wall section call outs to cad files that were inported. Need to reference. In the old days we would place referenced Revit sections on Dummy sheet and mask the callout text, then write in the correct sheet number.

Cant seem to get the masking region to cover text of callout.

Tried using hidden line, thin line ect ...

Is there a better way? Autodesk help menu is plain vinalla.

Create a drafting view, place a text component in it (I make it say Placeholder, and the title of the detail).

Now create a sheet, place this drafting view on that sheet, give it the sheet number (in essence make an empty placeholder sheet with views).

When you create the callout/section, check the refer other view check box on the options bar, select the appropriate detail from above.

This is simpler than masking or any other kind of tweaking, and it doesn't increase your file size much!
