(Revit 2011)
Hello everyone,
I am working on a material schedule to keep track of all of our materials in use. It is working well in most regards, but for some reason there is one material that is in use in the project as part of a Railing object (and the related Balusters), but it is not showing up in the schedule. For the time being I have a stand-alone family with 100 small extrusions with parameters plugged in for Material 01, Material 02, etc. that helps force the material into the schedule, but it just seems like this shouldn't be necessary. Everything else about the material including graphic styles and rendering of the rails works perfectly. Does anyone know if this is some limitation of railing objects, or perhaps something else?
The attached image shows a rail & baluster with material tags showing matl 93C, but this material is only showing up in the schedule because of the square-looking Generic Model object has one of its slots assigned to 93C. By the way, this issue does not appear to be a problem with phasing in the schedule. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Andy

Only thing I can suggest is to NOT have railings in your stair component, rather, build the stairs without the railings, then place the railings using the railing tool. I'm guessing that your material isn't accessible because it is nested within the stair component. If this is true, then you'll probably find the same issue with Ramps...

Thanks for the idea, but the rails shown are already independent from the stairs. With that in mind, it doesn't seem like the object hosting a rail would really be able to affect it in this way. This remains mysterious for me, but at least I have a work-around that I can use.
Thanks anyway!
