Hi,

I am an old designer that has used Acad for the past 15 years to do electrical layouts.  We are presently working with a design firm and they are using Revit MEP 2011.  I am hoping that I can get many needed answers here as I am having numerous issues.

Thanks, Dick

Welcome,

Don't be frustrated, think of yourself as privaledged... You are embarking on the task of learning a powerful, yet complex software program, from which you can virtually model your building, etc.  Mostly, don't be frustrated, my advice is to up front understand that Revit is not CAD, and that things will have to be done the Revit way.  Workflows will change, etc. and you will bang your head against the wall many, many, many times, if you still have hair, it might come out in clumps for a while, but eventually, you'll feel that click, and the lightbulb will turn on.  You'll come to understand and be one with Revit, and learn to hate its designers for not making it EXACTLY what you want!

dd,

This may be a hard tansition for you because of how long you were on CAD.  I was on CAD for over 25 years and I have been on Revit for over 5 so it can be done.  If you will be actually using Revit, you will need to put your CAD head on the shelf.  And for electrical types like yourself, the problem is really working in a 3D world.  You guys just never really dealt with that issue.

Welcome here - if you do switch to Revit, you won't regret it.  If you will just be looking for coordination answers, we will help you.
