Trying out 2012 and can't get a setting to work where my beams show up in plan view. Is there some hidden setting that is new and I don't know about? They are set at the proper height as verified by the section. Visibility is on. View range set beyond.

Structure beam are always below a ref level as that is the way it should be (if you put it on level 2, they will never show up on level 2 plan view, that goes for any version of Revit)
If you want to see them, adjust the view range on that level and put a negative value of the depth, then you should be able to see them.

possibly your plan views are set to coarse detail level? And they're there but only represented by a single line?

DGodfrey,
If you have not resolved it yet...try switching your view "Discipline" to structural. Also it is possible your beam is obscured by the floor material and not showing its hidden lines. Try looking into the beams "category" and change it to steel. See attached.

Tried the suggestions but still no luck. Not clear about the structure on the level below comment. I've always put the structure referenced to the level it lies. e.g. my basement beam is referenced to the basement and it lies below the floor above. I don't have another level below that. If I set the cut plane at the beam location, it shows up but as mentioned, I've never had to do that before. This just started happening with version 2012.

The only difference to the two files attached is the view range cut plane at the "with beam" file is at 8'-6" which is where the beam is relative to the basement floor. the other file is cut at 6' but the top is 8'-10". see section attached
