OK my company has done a few large jobs now with Revit MEP and I was wondering how to archive the current project and begin the addendum phase.

Does everyone truly keep 150MB backups of their MEP Central file and another Backup of there Arch Central file lets say 90MB in addition to a Structural Central file that can be 60MB.  Then continue on in the original central files?

Also, we have a client that would like for us to do some additional work on a project that was done in Revit MEP by another company.  Would we continue the work in that central file or can that information be imported into a new central file as existing items?

Just wondering,Heinzk1

I look  at the backups as a place to go back to if you have a problem with your file. As long as you have no troubles I go ahead and get rid of all but a couple of the backups. I also redily change the names of my projects as I go through differing phases. And the owner makes changes. If you can get a hold of the previous engineers file. And you have his permission to use it. I would but I would spend quite a bit of time checking to see if his modeling was correct. If I didn't have his permission to use his model I would load it and use it as a background to create a new file.

We keep a copy of the central at multiple project points but I don't believe this is really required.  PDF's of your project is a record set. Obviously you always want at least one model though.
