The easiest way to do this would be to add either an in-place build-out to your wall face onr an in-place void that cuts it back.

I would do the void.

Define your wall as thick as the thickest part.  Then in elevation, create in-place void families for each elevation... wall category that cut the wall back.  Do the whole pattern for each wall face as one sketch.  If your good at this, you could copy the sketch to clip-board and use portions of same sketch for each wall.

Thanks guys, altho im sure this is a good way to do it, I have no idea how to :D

So, my bricks are 9 cm in depth, and the overlay is 3 cm, you say i should create a wall that has 12cm 'bricks', and then create voids that are 3cm in depth which u substract from the wall?

And as second, 'creating in place void familys', how do you do this ?

Sorry for al the questions but I have never created parts in Revit my self, only used the standard librarys ones, or the ones you find here.

See attached.

  1. Create your wall.
  2. Add a reference plane in plan at wall face and name it - like south wall
  3. Home/Component/Model in place
  4. Name it like south wall void
  5. Select Void extrusion
  6. Pick your named plane
  7. Sketch the void - attched view shows you can trace over the elevation... I made one and copied to several places - you might have several different shapes to randomize yours.
  8. Set the thickness of void ... negative number if you are on wall face.
  9. Before you finish the family, pick that it cuts your wall.   Note that if your voids go over the ends of the wall, you will have to pick joining end walls to.
  10. Finish the void.
  11. You will have to paint the finish in the void.

For some reson my void did not end up on wall and I got an error message that it did not cut inteded target.  Don't delete the void.  Find it in plan and move it to the face of wall.
