there are two options when you try to call out something on plan. one is detail view, another is floor plan. Once you choose one, you can't change the type. The two options can give me the same view and call out tag. What's the difference of them? In another word, if I choose the wrong one, what consequence will I get?

Thanks.

One consequence is that if you choose detail, then in the detail view you make another call out like an elevation or section, that callout will only be see in that view.  Where as if you choose floor plan, all new callouts in that view will show in all other appropriate views.

Hi WWHub,

could you please explain what I am doing wrong:

1. In a floor plan, I made a “Floor Plan” type callout.

2. I opened this callout view and made a section.

3. I went back to the main floor plan (where I made the first callout) and see there only the first callout but not the section symbol.

What did I miss?

 Thanks.

When you click on your section there is an option in the properties to Hide at Scales Coarser Than, make sure that is set to the scale of your actual floor plan.

Thanks a lot!
