I hope that someone could assist me!

I am using Revit 2010 and am having issues with applying materials to my walls. I have the structure completed in revit and I have made duplicates of my walls and naming each of them differently. The family name is under basic wall. When I click on the wall called "performance wall" and than Element Properties and than under Edit Type and go into the structure edit and change the surfance material and how the wall would look when rendered it changes all my walls.

I hope that this makes sense..but I just don't know what to do! I am so confused at this point as to what I am missing/.....Please help anyone....

This is for a school project and if it would help I can send someone the file so that they could look at what i have done and see for themselves....

If you had a material called Red Painted Drywall, you would expect all walls with this material to be red - right?  If each of your walls have gypsum drywall as their finish material, they will all look the same.  If you want a different finish, the material has to be different, not just the wall type.

Thanks for responding..thats the issue though..my walls have different materials and when i change the material on one it changes them all. I have even detached the wall and it still changes the walls that aren't attached to it. Can i send you file and you can look at it to see what i am missing?

Sorry, but you are incorrect.  Your walls obviously have the same material assigned.  You need to read more about materials in your HELP and how to assign them.
