Using 2011....

So, I've got these lovely CAD files from the engineering office.... I'm importing the site plan file into my drawing, and it looks nice. Problem is, when I print it to a pdf file, the site plan turns into very pale linework. I'm thinking I'm missing one step....

Settings:

Current view only ticked

Colours: Black  and white

Layers: All

Import Units: Auto Detect

Positioning: Auto - Center to Center

It's on my main level (no problem)....

Also, I've tried changing all of the layers of the (AutoCAD file) drawing to one. But that did not make a difference.

The previous drafter here made it work, so I'm missing something, it's not the program!

Any suggestions, folks?

SRO

In your manage tab, under object styles/ imported objects, what are your pen and color settings for the various layers?

Nope. Not the answer. Or, do I have to re-import the drawing?

(In the print preview, it always looks good, but when I open the .pdf file, it is grey... not black. Maybe it is a .pdf writer setting?)

Remember that the object style settings are global and can be over-ridden in any view through VG settings and object over-rides.

Did you expand the settings for that import and look at the settings for the layers?

Yep. All are black. Still no-go.

I checked in the Object Styles  on the Iported Categories tab as well, and all is black.

Hmmmmmm.

Is there any chance that the cad object has been set to halftone?  Either in VG, or by the right clicking, override graphics  by element feature?

and... so, the cad displays fine on the screen?

You might do a raster, rather than vector print, where you set the output to black lines, too.  Not sure about this though.
