i have a large site with a big change in levels and im wondering is it possible to just 'drop' trees onto the site so they land on the toposurface so that i dont have to change all the levels on each tree

thanks

depends on the tree, whether it is surface hosted or not. best trees prolly http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/

Revit planting families automatically sit on top of the toposurfaces, so you just place them over the plan. It's important that elements in the planting family plan view are done properly with symbolic lines always visible, otherwise the tree circle goes into the terrain. We are using families from archigrafix since I think they are a bit better than the ones that are default on revit. But trees in revit also sit directly on top of toposurfaces if you want to use them.

when you have a tree selected, there should be a big green icon on the right side of your toolbar that says "pick new host." All tree families I can remember using where able to do this.
