I am using Revit Arch 2011. I'm trying to place an architectural column on the second floor but it is automatically placed on the first floor, regardless of whether or not I set its base level to "floor 2". Anyone have any thoughts on why this is the case? Thanks!

have you checked the top and bottom offsets? if there is a 10 foot gap between the first and second floors, and you change the base level but it keeps a -10' offset, itll be in the same location.

interesting... what happens if you change the bottom offset to the height difference between the floors? does anything change?

Where is the level above level two? Are you sure it's an 'architectural column? How are you constraining the top and bottom? Give us a screen capture before you actually place the column. ALT-PRTSC or Snip tool in Windows 7 Like attached.

Changing the offset doesn't do anything...it's as though it's constained. And as far as I know, it's not a structural column. Is there any way I can check that? and I've attached a print screen image. Thanks!

If changing the offset doesn't do anything, that means you do have some constraints set.Although I cannot tell too much from the printscreen, I do see that you have the column at a set height (9') rather than having it be from level to level. Also, it seems as though the column is constrained to Truss B/8 which you can change from the modify - place column toolbar. This said, I do not see where your column actually is in the printscreen; i see walls but no columns.

I've attached another print screen with a column placed. Additionally, I attached a section of that placed column. You can see how it's on the first floor, but extended up to the Truss Bearing Level. It doesn't matter if I have it set to Level 1, 2, 3, etc... it always is placed on the first floor. But the height depends on the level/height I have set. Is there any way I can "edit family" and remove any constraints that may be on the column?
