Hi all, I'm new here and also pretty new with Revit Structure.

I was asked to try and model some elements of a bridge/viaduct and to see if we can make that model as flexible as possible. We are looking for a base model of a bridge where we can drag around gridlines and the elements that make up the bridge will move with them. Also rotating the gridlines (in plan view) to give an angle to the elements would be nice.

What I have up till now is two decks (floors if you will) and on the edges of these floors there need to be kerbstones/edgings (see image).

My first question is how to model/create the deck with a different profile shape. When I try to place a structural floor I can only place split lines on the top side (the plane in which you draw your boundary edges). You can't alter the bottom side of the structural floor? I would like to create a floor that can be aligned with the grid, and which has the following adjustable profile (see image):

My last question for now is how to create the kerbstones. I created them through the beam/brace template but I wonder if that is correct? I can then add the kerbs through the beam command and with some work I can eventually align them on the grid so that they scale with the movement of the grid. Is that the way to go or am I missing something here. Also I would like to know if it is possible to automatically extend/trim the kerbstones with the angle of the grid (see image).

Thanks in advance

If you are pretty new to REVIT you have a pretty tough task ahead of you and not something that can be easily answered in a couple lines of text.

What you want can probably be accomplished with multiple floors, (with variable thickness) modifying the floor subcomponents and a few in place families but beyond that you need to learn how the software works before diving into this type of task.

Just my opinion. You need to walk before you run.

Also, if I may suggect, you could compose and format your questions here by providing more 'white space'.

It is hard on the eyes to try to read and understand your post. If someone has to spend 2 minutes 're'reading' your question they will just give up.

Thanks for your reply, and I agree with your opinion about learning about the program more etc. But this was just an idea to find out if we can make something like that with Revit Structure, in the future there maybe will be some courses that we as employees can follow. For now I just had a chance to put some time in a trial version and see what I could come up with.

About the messy post I edited it a bit. In the type box where I type my messages the white space isn't exactly showing what you see after posting the message.
