I have an AutoCAD map of the county I live in. In AutoCAD, I copy that map and highlight relevent information and insert it as a block into my title sheet with the site plan and heat calcs (txt files). That's what I'm trying to do in Revit. However, the way I use the map (and title 24 notes) has no relationship with the Revit model. Do I link the AutoCAD map to my site plan and create 2 view at different scales for site plan and location map? The alternative that comes to mind, is to create a "reference level" and insert the CAD file there. Than create that view on my title sheet.
I'm I approchaing this correctly? How do I use a location map that has no relationship with the Revit model in my construction documents, or is there some easier way to include this information? I can't find answers to these issues in the Revit help or tutorials.

If your imported location map is on dedicated layers, I find the easiest way is to turn them off in views where I don't require them - in View Properties - Model tab - Lines - (uncheck relevant layers).

If it has no association to your model place the dwg into a detail view.

Thanks for the quick reply. Detail views would be the next logical step in moving from design to construction documents. Mr Spot, are you saying the detail views have the option of having a relation with the model or not? I had assumed that as I generated the details, that the model would update. How does Revit know if there is an association or not? I'll be doing the tutorials today, so please excuse me if the answer to that should be obvious.
Oh, and should I import or link the map dwg to the detail view?

I should have said "Drafting View". These are blank drawing canvases for doing details that are typical and don't have association with any model geometry. You can use callouts and reference to, to link to these views in sections, elevations, plans etc.
Up to you on the link or import option...
If there are chances the Autocad drawing is going to be updated then link it... If not just import it->current view only.
