I have just added benches and cupboards into a kitchen, and find the floor finish is showing on the plan right through them. The cupboards under the bench is also showing through the bench. The View Range Cut Plane is set at 1600mm. Anyone know what the problem would be? It looks fine in section.

As eldad alluded to. In your family the actual model element is most likely set not to display in plan view. Select the 3D elements and go to there visibilty and set to show in plan.

Thanks for your help guys. I went into the Floor Plan VIsability/Graphics Overrides and had a look at the casework. I found if I turned off Casework hidden lines and plan swing then the cupboards under the bench disappear. The cupboards over do too however, which is not what I want. I would want to show them dotted. The floor material is still showing through the bench however, and I don't want to turn that off and have it disappear everywhere else. What puzzles me is why these things are not naturally showing as hidden when they are placed under other objects.

As mentioned above you need to EDIT THE FAMILY. Its not a setting in VIsibility/Graphics Overrides... You need to select the 3D element - go to its properties - click visibilty button - tick show in plan and when cut in plan...

Thanks for your help Mr Spot. That did it. In the 3d objects Element Properties I found under Instance Parameters - Other - 'Show outline' and 'Show Hidden', unclicked these turning the cupboards under 'off' now not showing in plan. The overheads are showing (as required), changed the linetype to dashed. So well and good. However the ceramic floor finish is still showing through the bench, wcs. & bathroom fittings and there appears is no Instance Parameter available for either the floor or these fittings...

the easiest way would be to put a field region in your family (white of course...)

Eldoros, you are assuming I know what I am doing here! lol Would you mind spelling it out? Why wouldn't Revit know automatically that the floor doesn't show through the benches!!??

check to make sure that you are in hidden line mode and not in wireframe. that may be why your floor is showing through your bench and cupboards.

Audrie, You still seem to be missing what i'm telling you... Have a look at the attached image. Open the family then select the 3D geometry then do as specified in the image.

Thank you Mr Spot. I got that. and now have the bench and fridge sorted out. Both are set in the models themselves to show on plan. As far as the toilets and sinks though I still have the same problem. While the models themselves say that they are showing in plan form, the ceramic tiles are visable through them.

Audrie, open your toilet and sink and put a white filled rigion over them, this will get rid of the hatch under and you'll still have your wc and sink lines...

Well, I managed to fix the sink and toilet by going right down to their base parts and making them visable in Plan. Even though the overall item said it was visable in plan, the parts weren't. So problem solved. But you have me interested in this "Rigion' Eldados, - it is like Autocad's Wipeout Command or is it a form of hatch? There is nothing about it in the help files.
