Working with making a BIM-model I have come across this problem. I need to tell what walls are fire rated by legal demand. I can not use the family parameter, since the same wall is used in other places where there is no fire rating demand. I thought the smart way would be to make an instance parameter, but it's not possible? Any ideas on how this could be done so it also transfers to IFC.

Thanks

Sofus

We make a new wall type with a different mark.  Yes, it might contain the same materials and thickness as another wall but it is different construction by code and therefore it should be a unique wall type - not instance.  As a different wall type, it can have different coarse fill patterns for your code sheet.

It is certainly possible to add an instance parameter to walls. Just go to Manage, Project Parameters and Add.

This will save creating double the amount of walls for fire walls.
