Hi, we are transitioning to Revit in my office. I am having a problem with bringing manufacturere-created toilet famlies into Revit model. The toilets are meant to be floor mounted and do appear that way in the family editor, but when they load into the model they are only hosting to the walls instead. I can see that the host constraint in properties is set to "wall" which would seem the obvious problem, but the feild is grayed out and i can't change it. Any suggestions?? THank in advance!

Some objects are meant to be placed from elevation views and others only from plan views. What objects are you using? Do you own the floors and walls or are you working with a linked model?

hi wwhub thanks for your reply. I had been trying to place them in pan view and so just tried in elevation - same problem - tthe bottom ot the toilet is attaching to the wall, so it appears to be growing out of the wall sideways. this is happening both in the shared file we are working in and a separate file i set up(and own) in order to test fixtures. and it's happening consistently with various models of toilets all from the kohler website, not just a specific model.

I just downloaded a Kohler toilet and had no problems placing it in plan view.

solved. thank you for checking. i think we were missing the "place on face" step, and since most plumbing fixtures place on walls that's where it was going by default. thanks!
